May in Paris started off with winter-like temperatures. Looking back at my Instagram pictures of April makes me want to weep at the sight of a sunny city. The arrival of spring made me re-discover the Palais-Royal gardens and Ile Saint-Louis under a different light. It’s a time of the year when rhythms change. People linger in parks and on the banks of the Seine. A general sense of lightness settles in.
Saint-Germain was no exception to the trend and I had a lovely Easter Monday stroll in the Luxembourg gardens, which I blogged on here.
The month wouldn’t have been complete without a few cultural events. The highlights were attending rehearsals of the ballet Paquita which premieres at Palais Garnier tonight. The public work session hosted by the choreographer Pierre Lacotte and Etoile dancer Agnès Letestu was fascinating. I also got to see a dress rehearsal at the Opera and visit backstage thanks to a lovely lady who works there – a dream come true!
